Galvanized steel pipe is a pipe covered with a layer of zinc. Layer applied both inside and outside, which protects the pipe against corrosion. The linear mass of the galvanized pipes is calculated by adding to the mass of the pipes the quantity of zinc corresponding to the minimum thickness of the zinc layer deposited.
Galvanized pipe has the advantage of increased resistance to corrosive agents.
The installation pipe is tested to pressure, having the approval of work under pressure. These pipes are used for installations, air conditioning systems and fire extinguishers. It is also used for outdoor constructions, for fences or railings.
To benefit for as long as possible from the properties that the galvanized pipe offers, it is recommended to combine it with other elements only by screw-cutting. The galvanized pipe may be welded, but by welding the zinc is destroyed on both sides of the seam weld. Even if on the surface it may be reworked with zinc-rich paint, on the inside this is impossible as rust appears immediately.
