Steel round class S235

USE OF ROUND STEEL CLASS S235

A class S235 round steel is generally used for the realization of welded metal constructions or joined by screws or rivets.

It has superior elastic properties due to its low carbon content. Being used for the execution of:

• structural elements for roads, road bridges and railways;
• frames/frames and chassis for machines and equipment, welded frames;
• metal trusses, tank component parts;
• welded metal meshes for concrete reinforcement;
• metal chains, component parts in civil and industrial metal constructions.

Steel Welding S235

This brand of steel can be welded without restrictions. Compared to alloy steels, it does not require heating of the product and does not require heat treatment to relieve stress after welding.

At larger diameters, cracks may appear after welding. In this sense, after welding, the round steel will cool down in a controlled manner to reduce tensions and prevent the appearance of cracks due to sudden cooling.

CORROSION RESISTANCE OF S235 ROLLED STEEL

Without corrosion resistance, it requires anti-corrosion treatment.

The most suitable is to protect the round steel by hot-dip galvanizing according to EN1461, as long as the application of this treatment does not disturb the use as a final product.

Depending on the end use, S235 steel can be primed/painted or oiled to be corrosion resistant.
