What types of steel pipe do we sell?

Its versatility makes the steel pipe the most frequently used product that is manufactured by the steel industry.

People have been using and producing pipes for various purposes for thousands of years. Archaeological evidence attests that, in 2000 BC, ancient farmers or the Chinese used pipes made of different materials, such as wood or bamboo, to transport water.

Since the 1800s, important steps have been taken in steel pipe technology. Including the improvement of manufacturing methods, the development of applications for their use and the establishment of regulations and standards that govern their certification.

Steel pipes stand out for their maximum reliability in multiple applications and industrial contexts, proving that they are very resistant.

There is quite a wide variety of steel pipe types available on the market.

Depending on the manufacturing method, steel pipes are classified into two groups:

1. Seamless pipes, formed in a single step during rolling.

The most significant advantage of seamless pipes is that they can be produced with thicker walls. Due to the fact that they do not have welding seams, they are considered to have better mechanical properties than pipes with a welding seam.

2. Welded pipes that involve a welding process after rolling.

Depending on the external size, wall thickness and application, there are different ways of manufacturing welded pipes.

Welded pipes offer tighter tolerances, but a thinner wall thickness.

Lower cost may also be a reason why welded pipes may be preferred over seamless pipes.

In both manufacturing methods, raw steel is first cast into a more workable starting form (hot slab or flat strip).

The main focus should be the application specifications when determining the type of pipe to be purchased.

Depending on the shape, the steel pipes that we sell can have a section: tubular (square/rectangular) or circular.

A round steel pipe is defined by its outer diameter and wall thickness. Whereas when you order a square/rectangular pipe, you must specify the size of the sides and the thickness of the wall.

On the H Metal website you can find:

Square and rectangular steel pipe that can be used for a wide variety of applications. It has uses in industry, construction, furniture, equipment and the agricultural industry.

The black installation pipe is intended for the construction of hot or cold potable water transport networks, heating installations and thermal agent transport with a maximum pressure of 50 bar. Also, to the realization of technological installations.

The round construction pipe has applications in the car construction industry, for the construction of fence posts, garments and various metal constructions.

Drawn steel pipe is the preferred material for the construction of ships, pipelines, oil rigs, oil field equipment, pressure vessels, machine parts and maritime platforms and various metal constructions.

Also, for all the categories above, we can also deliver hot-dip galvanized steel pipe.

In our workshop, we also perform manual processes. Thus, we deliver steel pipe that is cut to specific dimensions, cut at an angle or drilled.
