Over time, the Berislavesti Monastery was seriously damaged by earthquakes and fires, it was taken over by the National Office of Historical Monuments and included in the National Restoration Plan due to structural degradation with rapid evolution.

The investment project „Consolidation, restoration, preservation and enhancement of the monumental ensemble – Berislavesti Monastery”, being financed by European funds.

This project does not involve demolition works, the desire being to preserve as much as possible the character of the existing constructions, structural elements and defining components, whether it is decorative or masonry elements specific to a certain historical moment.

To bring the enclosure wall to its original height, H Metal delivered:

– hot-dip galvanized striated concrete steel fi 14 mm BST500C – 176 bars per 6 ml;

– hot-dip galvanized striated concrete steel fi 10 mm BST500C – 328 bars per 6 ml.

Lately, galvanized concrete steel BST is used more and more as an alternative to the classic steels for concrete reinforcement, OB37 or PC52 (PC60). It is a carbon steel with periodic profile and high rigidity, hot rolled. This type of steel is a modern product, with superior characteristics for making reinforced concrete.

For the consolidation work of the monastery, BST galvanized concrete steel, class C, was chosen. The BST is produced in three ductility classes:

– First class, class A: the least ductile, ultimate specific deformation capacity between 2.5% and 5%;

– Second class, class B: medium ductility, ultimate specific deformation capacity between 5% and 7.5%;

– The 3rd class, class C: the most ductile, last specific deformation capacity > 7.5%.

Class C of steel-concrete BST is necessary in the construction of ductile structures (ductility class M or H).
