According to the data released by the Ukrainian Mining and Metallurgical Company (UGMK), the export of steel products is down by 7.6% compared to the previous year. Having a total value of 12.6 billion dollars.
In 2014, Ukraine exported 20.24 million metric tons of steel, of which 9.2 million mt of semi-finished products (-13%), 2.2 million mt of cast iron (-3%) and 900,000 mt of ferroalloys (+27%) .
For 2015, imports of 11.2-14.4 million tons of coal are expected. In January, Ukraine produced 900,000 tons of metallurgical coke (6% density). Being down by 39.6% compared to the previous year, but by 1.1% more than the previous month.
For December 2014, coke production was 890,000 tons, in November – 850, in October – 849, in September – 649, in August – 738,000 tons, while in July 2014 it totaled 1.28 million tons and in June 1.37 million tons. In 2014, the coking plants in Ukraine produced 1,382,000 tons of coke. Registering a decrease of 21.4% compared to the previous year.
If metal companies produce 20.4 million tons of pig iron in 2015, they will need 10.2 million tons of coke. And for this, 16.1 million tons of coking coal. If 24 million tons of pig iron will be produced, then they will need 12 million tons of coke. Or 18.9 million tons of coking coal. In 2015, the coking plants will receive 6.5 million tons of local coal concentrate. Thus, the companies will have to import 11.2 million tons of coal. Including 9.6 million tons for coke production and 1.6 million tons for fuel. If this plan is respected, the country will have to import 14.4 million tons of coal.
