Tata Steel launched a construction steel pipe in Europe, an „innovative and more resistant” product. It can speed up the construction of new buildings and reduce the weight of large machines or vehicles.
Celsius 420, which is described as a „state-of-the-art steel”, was developed in collaboration with customers in the construction industry. First of all, to be used in demanding construction projects.
„Our Celsius range is already very well established on the market of structural tubular sections. But we know that our customers are constantly looking for new materials with improved properties, that’s why we focus so much on innovation to develop the latest generation steel products„, said Henrik Adam – Chief Commercial Officer of Tata Steel in Europe .
„With the Celsius 420 we are bringing to market a completely new range of hot finished structural tubular sections which we believe is in a class of its own,” he added.
The new product claims to offer significant weight savings. Allowing construction teams to use smaller foundations and fewer temporary structures. Thus helping to reduce construction time and costs on site.
„Celsius 420 also has a potential for use in the mechanical products sectors. Such as industrial machinery and agricultural vehicles”. The company stated in a statement. The special chemical properties of Celsius 420 steel allow the products to be easily welded, despite its additional strength.
Jonathan Clemens, head of marketing, construction and infrastructure for Tata Steel’s European operations, said: „As a hot finished welded product with increased strength, Celsius 420 offers customers great advantages through lower material costs, good weldability and performance improved due to the high degree of uniformity in the wall thickness.
The Celsius 420 range of round, square, rectangular and elliptical pipes went into production at the end of last year and is currently being studied by customers.
The sections are made from strip produced at Tata Steel’s South Wales works. Being transformed into hot finished pipes in the company’s rolling mills in Hartlepool and Corby, UK.
