Construction works decreased by 17% in the first eight months of 2014
The volume of construction works increased in August by 2.5% compared to July, but remains 12% lower compared to August 2013. While overall the first eight months had a steeper drop of 17%, data seasonally adjusted, according to the National Institute of Statistics.
The National Institute of Statistics (INS) is a specialized body of the central public administration in Romania subordinated to the Government. And coordinated by the Prime Minister, through the General Secretariat of the Government.
Official statistics in Romania are carried out through the official statistics services and are organized and coordinated by this institute.
The functioning of the INS is based on the principles of autonomy, confidentiality, transparency, relevance, proportionality, statistical ethics and the cost/effectiveness ratio.
In August 2014, the volume of construction works (gross series) increased, compared to July 2014, by 9.5%, an increase evident in new construction works and capital repair works, by 15.4% and 12 .8%. Current maintenance and repair works decreased by 6.4%.
