India will remain the fourth largest steel producer, even though its production growth exceeded the global average in the first 11 months. It shows the data of the World Steel Association.
Global steel production, during the first 11 months of 2014, increased by 1.8%. Reaching 1,497.75 MT, compared to 1,471.44 MT in the same period last year.
India, being a large producer, produced 76190000 tons (MT) of steel in the January-November period. Compared to 74.37 MT in the same period last year, an increase of 2.4%.
Despite the slowdown in production in some previous months, China is the largest steel producer in the world in the first eleven months of the current year, with a production of approximately 650 MT.
Japan produced 101.66 MT in the 11 months. An increase of 0.4 percent compared to 101.25 MT in the same period last year.
Production in the United States increased by 1.5% in the first 11 months of the year. Reaching 80.95 MT from 79.75 MT a year ago. Although the difference in production between India and the USA is not large, it is unlikely that the order will change because the USA produced more steel, even in November.
The ranking among the first four steel producers remains the same in the last four years.
