The process of handling milled rolled steel

H Metal delivers processed metallurgical products, such as rolled milled round steel. They bring economic and time benefits to our clients.

We received such a request for rolled round steel 45mm S355J2 (milled according to the request) – 10 pieces x 240 mm.

This product, delivered by H Metal, was used in the field of product design, for a research project regarding the realization of some components that make up the public sanitary groups.

Milling is the mechanical processing operation by chipping on milling machine tools, with tools called milling cutters. Being a material removal process, it allows to obtain a wide range of surfaces through the cutting action with a defined geometry.

The milling cutter is a cutting tool with several cutting edges for processing surfaces through two simultaneous movements:

– rotational movement around its own axis;

– advance movement.

The processing depends on the machine and the tools used: there are many options and therefore it is essential to choose the right ones for the work to be done.

To make this milled round steel, we used a CNC milling machine (numerically controlled). The CNC milling machine is the most common machine with numerical control and used at the industrial and artisan level. The deep milling operation consists in chipping the metals in depth to the desired length and diameter.

Milled rolled steel – uses

A round steel has a varied range of applications, being used for: metal constructions, metal axes, execution of parts, manufacture of tools, production of decorative elements, various machine parts, agricultural tools, transport equipment, execution of threaded bolts.

Round steel can be used: forged, welded or as a joining piece between other elements.

If your project will be carried out outside, we suggest the purchase of hot galvanized round steel. Zinc plating gives it an appropriate anti-corrosion protection.

Delivery possible: steel, galvanized, painted or galvanized + painted.
